The nationally-ranked and undefeated San José State women's tennis team looks to have its toughest test of the season on its hands it plays host to Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon.

The 73rd-ranked Spartans (3-0) are riding high after a sweep of local foes San Francisco and Santa Clara last weekend, but the Hornets (3-1) enter Saturday's showdown having already knocked off then-No. 74 UC Irvine by a 5-2 tally. The upset marked the Hornets' third consecutive win to start the season before Loyola Marymount handed them their first loss the next day.

For San José State, Marie Klocker's 3-0 start to the season in singles play resulted in her rising from No. 90 to No. 82 in the Feb. 10 edition of the national singles rankings. Klocker leads the Spartans with a 5-1 overall record on the spring.

Singles play has been the key to the early success for the Spartans, as all six players to see court time this season have a winning record entering the weekend. Miyo Kobayashi is tied with Klocker with a 3-0 mark, while Marine Dans, Justine Deleval, Sybille Gauvain and Gaelle Rey own 2-1 record thus far.

For fans in attendance at Saturday's match, San José State will be providing free pizza after the doubles point.
