PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Mark Hubbard, who lettered at San José State from 2008 to 2011, sits in a seventh place tie at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am after two rounds. Hubbard shot a two-under 70 in the first round on Thursday, followed by six-under 66 in the second round today, putting him three strokes off the lead.
Each of the 156 professionals in the field are teamed up with an amateur partner as each team is guaranteed to play three rounds. They will each get one round at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Monterey Peninsula Country Club’s Shore Course.
Hubbard, partnered with amateur Thomas Campbell, played on the Pebble Beach Golf Links (par-72, 6816-yards) on Thursday and carded his six-under round today at the Spyglass Hill Golf Course (par-72, 6953-yards).
The former Spartan will tee it up in the third round on Saturday at 8:33 a.m. PT on the par-71, 6867-yard Shore Course. There will be a cut to the top-60 and ties among the pros after Saturday’s round.
Sung Kang and Hiroshi Iwata are tied atop the leaderboard at 11-under 132.
Since graduating from San José State in 2011, the Denver, Colo., native has moved up the professional golf ranks. He won the 2013 Wildfire Invitational while playing on the Canadian Tour, followed by a stink on the Web.com Tour before earning his PGA Tour card in 2014.
