Stanford, Calif.- Regan De Guzman began the final semester of her San José State career with a two-over 73 in the first round of the Peg Barnard Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course on Saturday. The Spartan women's golf team finished the day in ninth place at 310.
De Guzman led the Spartans after the first round and is tied for 14th on the par-71 course. She made three birdies during her round and shot even par over her final nine holes of the day. De Guzman is looking for her third top-10 finish in as many tries at this tournament.
My Leander is tied for 30th with her first-round 75. She also recorded three birdies during her round. After a rough start over her first nine holes (+5), Leander made a bogey on #10 but then made either pars or birdies (#13, #16) over her final eight holes.
Elizabeth Schultz is tied for 52nd at 80, making one birdie and 12 pars. Fanny Johannson is tied for 60th at 82 and made birdie-par on her final two holes of the day. Alexandra Cooper is tied for 62nd at 83. Playing as an individual, Cristina Glebova is tied for 60th at 82.
Final-round action begins Sunday at 8 a.m. off hole #1. The Spartans begin play at 8:25 a.m. off of #10.
