Stanford, Calif.-- San José State women's golfers My Leander and Regan De Guzman started the spring season with top-20 finishes Sunday afternoon at the Peg Barnard Invitational. The Spartans finished the tournament in ninth place at the Stanford Golf Course.
Leader shot a team-best one-over 72 to finish tied for 15th at 147. During her Sunday round, she made four birdies and shot even par over her final nine holes (#1-9).
De Guzman shot a three-over 74 to finish tied for 15th at 147. She made five birdies during her round and as even par over her first nine holes of the day (#10-18). De Guzman led the team and tied for third overall in birdies made with eight.
Elizabeth Schultz made two birdies on her round of 80 and finished tied for 53rd at 160. Alexandra Cooper shot a 79 and tied for 58th at 162. Fanny Johansson shot an 85 to finish teid for 68th at 167. Playing as an individual, Cristina Glebova finished tied for 55th at 161 after shooting a 79.
"We were a little more composed today," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "We definitely need to get some tournaments rounds under our belts. My played nicely today for us. We are looking forward to competing at Meadow Club in our next tournament."
The Spartans next play at the Bay Area Intercollegiate, March 7 & 8, at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
