College Station, Texas --- Senior Riley Spitser and sophomore Brenna Bushey posted NCAA provisional times to lead the San Jose State Spartans swimming and diving team on day three of the Mountain West Championships.

"This morning's session was arguably our best session performance at a major meet in program history. Tonight we had some very strong performances and were a little flat in other areas, but we'll be ready to go full force tomorrow morning," Spartans Head Coach Sage Hopkins said.

Posting San Jose State's best finish on Friday, Bushey clocked a time of 54.03 for a fifth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly finals. Bushey posted a NCAA B Standard provisional qualifying time in preliminary round of the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.77, setting a career best mark and moving into third all-time at San Jose State.

Spitser claimed her second NCAA `B' cut this season in the 200-yard freestyle prelims with a mark of 1:46.96, topping her career best time and Spartan record she set Thursday in the first leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay. Spitser finished eighth in the final round of the 200 freestyle.

In the 100-yard backstroke final, sophomore Colleen Humel swam a 55.05 to take eighth place. In the first race of the evening, Humel was joined by junior Taylor Solorio, Bushey and senior captain Brynne Beneke for a seventh place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The relay team posted a mark of 3:42.13 for the fourth best time in school history.

Solorio set a personal best time of 1:02.79 for 10th place in the 100-yard breaststroke, cutting her top time by .37 seconds. She remains in third on the Spartans' all-time top-10 list.
