San José State's women's tennis team will play its first double dip of the 2016 season this weekend when it travels to face San Francisco on Friday and hosts Santa Clara in the home opener on Saturday.

After entering its first match at No. 72 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, San José State dropped one spot to No. 73 in the Jan. 27 iteration of the poll.

The Spartans (1-0) opened the dual match campaign nearly two weeks ago with a thrilling 4-3 win at Hawai'i. Freshman Miyo Kobayashi played the hero, as the match came down to her three-set triumph at No. 5 singles.

The Dons (0-4) are looking for their first win of the season after opening with a grueling stretch that included road matches against No. 12 Michigan, No. 32 Dartmouth and No. 39 Long Beach State. The Spartans edged the Dons by a 4-3 margin last season at Spartan Courts and lost by the same tally in their 2014 trip to the Olympic Club.

Santa Clara (2-1) enters the weekend with wins over Holy Names and UC Davis under its belt. Marie Klocker, currently the 90th-ranked singles player in the country, was one of four Spartans to notch a singles point in last year's 4-1 Spartans win over the Broncos.
