Tucson, Ariz.-San José State women's golfers Elizabeth Schultz and Regan De Guzman finished the first day of the MountainView Collegiate in the top-20 after playing two rounds at the MountainView Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The Spartans are tied for seventh at 590.

Schultz is tied for 10th at one-over 145. She shot the Spartan low score in the first round with an even-par 72, and followed that up with a one-over 73 in round two. During the first round, Schultz made two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars, while during the second, she made four birdies, five bogeys and nine pars.

De Guzman shot a one-over par 73 in each round and is tied for 15th at two-over 146. She made three birdies and 11 pars in the first round and one birdie and 15 pars in round two. De Guzman is tied for fifth pars made with 26 and made nine consecutive pars in the second round (holes 10-18).

My Leander is tied for 33rd at 149 after shooting a 76 in the first round and a 73 in the second round. During her first round, she had two birdies, a bogey and 13 pars, but a double bogey and triple bogey hampered her round. The second round found Leander starting bogey-bogey-birdie-par-bogey-bogey (holes 3-9) before finishing the round with 10 pars and two birdies over the final 12 holes.

Abegail Arevalo leads the tournament in pars made with 28, and is tied for 43rd at 150. She shot a one-over 73 in the first round, starting the round by making eight consecutive birdies (#5-12), then a birdie on #13, before six more pars, two bogeys and a par. In the second round, Arevalo made 13 pars and five bogeys during the round for a 77.

Alexandra Cooper rounded out the Spartan scoring as she is tied for 84th at 166. She shot 80-86 over her two rounds, and made three birdies on the day.

San José State is tied with Ohio State and Colorado State at 590 for two rounds. The team shot 294-296 on the day. The Spartans are just two shots behind sixth-place Purdue and four shots from fifth-place New Mexico State. Fifth-ranked Georgia leads the tournament at six-under 570.

Final round action begins Saturday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
