Round 2 Results

BANDON, Ore. - In Monday's second round at The Bandon Dunes Championship, the San José State men's golf team improved by 25 strokes over their first round score by shooting a 15-over 299, but still remains in 12th place.

The calmer weather conditions at the par-71, 6,682 yard Bandon Trails Course resulted in improved scores for all but two teams in the 12 team field. For the Spartans, six of the seven individuals shot better rounds on Monday compared to Sunday.

The Spartans got their best round of the day from Bradley Keyer who shot a one-over 72 to put him in a tie for 38th, improving by eight strokes from the first round (+10, 80-72-152). The redshirt freshman was playing as an individual, thus his score would not count toward the team score. The round of 72 was Keyer's best round in his young Spartan career, playing in only his third career tournament.

Another Spartan playing as an individual, Henrik Sohlberg, has the second lowest score in the tournament among Spartans at 13-over 155, after shooting five-over 76 for the day. The third-year Spartan played the last nine holes in one-over.

Sophomore Matthew Murray made an eight shot improvement (+14, 82-74-156) and sits in a tie for 57th.

Freshman Kevin Velo made a nine shot improvement (+15, 84-73-157) as he finished the last five holes in three-under.

The biggest second round improvement came from senior Taylor Bromley who improved by 12 strokes (+16, 85-73-158) and is tied for 64th along with fellow Spartan Scott Munger (+16, 78-80-158). Bromley had five birdies in the second round compared to none in the first.

Sophomore Brett Thawley improved by one stroke and is in 68th place (+17, 80-79-159).

Three of the highest ranked teams in the field, #9 Clemson, #30 Washington and #39 UAB, had the lowest rounds of the day as they shot 10-under, one-over and one-under, respectively. Only Clemson has shot under par for the tournament as they are atop the team leaderboard at four-under 564, as they have three players in the top-four. Two of them, Stephen Behr and Bryson Nimmer are atop the individual leaderboard, along with Utah Valley's Blair Bursey at three-under 139.

The final round of The Bandon Dunes Championship will conclude on Tuesday with 18 holes. The teams will tee it off at 8:30 a.m. PST with a shotgun start. Fans can follow all of the round two action with live scoring updates provided by Golfstat (Team Leaderboard, Player Leaderboard).
