Fairfax, Calif.-- Regan De Guzman recorded her second top-10 finish of the season with her eight-place finish at the Bay Area Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. The San José State women's golf team finished eighth at 599.

De Guzman shot a four-over 75 during the second round to tie for eighth-place at 146. She led the tournament in par-five scoring at four-under and made six birdies over her two rounds. During her final round, she four-over through six holes, made six consecutive pars before making birdies on two of the next three holes. De Guzman finished the round par-par-bogey.

My Leander finished tied for 19th at 150, after shooting a 78 in the final round. She did not card a birdie during the round but made 13 pars.

Elizabeth Schultz tied for 25th at 151. She shot a 75 on Tuesday and started the round par-par-birdie. After three bogeys, she made four consecutive pars before birdie-bogey, five more pars and finished with a bogey.

Abegail Arevalo finished her first collegiate tournament with a 78 and tied for 52nd at 156. Her only birdie of the day came on #18, and she made 11 pars during the round.

Fanny Johansson shot the low-score of the day for the Spartans with a 74 to finish the tournament tied for 62nd at 158. The highlight of her round came on the par-five, 428-yard 17th hole. Johansson recorded an eagle three on the hole after going driver-3-wood and made a 15-foot putt. During Tuesday's round, she also made a birdie and 12 pars.

The Spartans were plagued Tuesday by too many big numbers and not enough small numbers. The team made 18 bogeys and five double bogeys during the round compared to just six birdies and one eagle.

"The season-long consistency of our inconsistency is remarkable," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "We had too many three-putts during the tournament, especially on Tuesday. At some point, we have to find a solution to this problem."

California swept the titles, winning the team title by three shots over Colorado, and Hannah Suh won the individual title with a four-under 140 (71-69).

The Spartans next play at the MountainView Collegiate, March 18 and 19, in Tucson, Ariz.
