San José State women's tennis wraps up the regular season portion of the 2016 dual match campaign with a pair of home matches this weekend. No. 37 Fresno State visits on Friday and Nevada comes to town on Saturday for Senior Day. Justine Deleval, San José State's lone senior, will be honored before the match.
The Spartans (9-8, 1-1 MW) are coming off a five-match road swing that included wins over SMU and conference foe San Diego State. They own a 5-3 mark at Spartan Courts this season, but have yet to play a Mountain West contest. Marie Klocker and Gaelle Rey continued their ascent up the national doubles rankings this week, improving to No. 77, up from last week's No. 86.
Fresno State (15-8, 2-0 MW) presents a tough task for the Spartans on Friday. The Bulldogs bring a three-match win streak into the showdown with San José State, the final two of which came against conference opponents in UNLV and San Diego State. Mayar Sherif Ahmed, the 52nd-ranked singles player, owns a 13-6 record atop the Bulldogs' singles lineup. She teams with her older sister, Rana, to form the No. 24 doubles tandem in the country. The duo has recorded a 13-5 mark at the top doubles spot.
Nevada (8-7, 1-1 MW) had rattled off seven consecutive wins until halted their streak with a 4-2 win on Sunday. Rey and Klocker's day won't be any easier on Saturday, as the Wolf Pack's Blaga Delic and Sheila Morales-Hidalgo represent the No. 75 doubles duo in the nation and own a 9-2 record. Nevada has been especially strong at the top of the singles lineup this season, as Caludia Herrero (No. 1) and Morales (No. 2) have both gone 12-2 thus far.
