#11-San Jose State Women's Water Polo Loses At #2-UCLA, 13-6

Los Angeles, Calif.----- Rae Lekness and Donia Momen each scored twice for the San Jose State University women's water polo team, but #2-ranked UCLA won its home opener in a 13-6 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) contest.

The #11-ranked Spartans (13-12, 0-4 MPSF) never led in the contest at the Spieker Aquatic Complex. Mackenzie Barr's second score of her match-high four for the Bruins (18-2, 3-0 MPSF) midway through the first quarter to broke a 1-1 tie and ignited a 4-0 UCLA spurt.

San Jose State had its chances offensively. Bruins goalkeeper Carlee Kapana repeatedly turned away Spartan chances and was credited with 13 saves. The Spartans' six goals were the most scored against UCLA during its now seven-match winning streak.

Carla Toha Vilanova and Cara Robinson also scored once for San Jose State. Lekness' second goal moved the senior from Calgary, Alberta, into a fifth-place tie with Jessica Schroeder of Pacific (2001-04) on the MPSF career scoring list with 268 goals.

Alicia Magliocco was credited with eight saves in goal for the Spartans.

San Jose State concludes its weekend play on the UCLA campus facing Pomona Pitzer and Redlands on April 3.
