Box Score

FRESNO, Calif. - San Jose State fell victim to a stellar outing by Fresno State's Ricky Tyler Thomas and dropped Friday night's series opener by a score of 6-0 at Beiden Field.

Thomas (W, 6-3) hurled a complete game for Fresno State (25-14, 13-6 MW), scattering just a pair of Brendt Citta singles while striking out four and walking none. The Spartans (11-26, 4-15 MW) did not produce a baserunner after Citta's second single in the fifth inning.

Graham Gomez made the start and matched Tyler Thomas through his 2.0 innings of work, facing just one over the minimum. Zach Tanner (L, 0-1) worked the next 3.0 innings and pitched well save for Joe Prior's pinch-hit two-run homer for Fresno State's first runs of the night.

Prior launched a solo shot in the seventh for his second longball of the night and season. The Bulldogs added three more runs in the eighth to double their lead and reach the final 6-0 margin.

Friday night's game started on time despite a heavy pregame downpour that forced both teams to shelter in their locker rooms for the better part of two hours.

Ozzy Braff and Shane Timmons saw their reached-base streaks of 24 games snapped in the loss. Each went 0-for-3.

Game two gets underway from Beiden Field on Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
