Leander Shoots 71, Spartans Tie For 13th At Silverado Showdown

Napa, Calif.-- My Leander shot a one-under 71 to finish tied for 28th at the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa. The San José State women's golf team shot a 302 to finish tied for 13th at 912 with Gonzaga.

Leander shot the only under-par round for the Spartans at the tournament and finished at 223 to tie for 28th. She made four birdies during the final round and eight for the three rounds.

Leander started the final round on #16 and was one-under through five holes with a birdie on #17. After a bogey on #3, she made six consecutive pars followed by birdie-bogey-par to put her at even par. Leander played the last three holes at birdie-birdie-bogey.

Regan De Guzman shot a 75 to finish tied for 31st at 224. She started her round on #15 and made five consecutive pars to begin. Holes 2-6 are where her score changed the most as she went bogey-birdie-birdie-double bogey-bogey. After pars on #7 and #8, De Guzman finished with three pars and two bogeys for a three-over par on her round.

Abegail Arevalo finished tied for 63rd at 232 with a 77 in the last round. She made just one birdie and 11 pars during the round. Elizabeth Schultz tied for 76th at 235 with a 79 in the third round. Alexandra Cooper finished 93rd after being disqualified for signing and incorrect scorecard.

"My had a nice round today, and I am happy with an under-par score," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "We struggled with our putting all week, and now we know what to work on and improve upon heading into the conference championships."

San José State next competes at the Mountain West Championship, April 18-20, on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
