May 20, 2016

San Jose, Calif.— Laura Parts, a 6-1 middle blocker from Parnumaa, Estonia, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play volleyball at San José State University beginning with the 2016-17 school year, as announced by Spartan head coach Jolene Shepardson.

Parts has been a member of the Senior National women's team in Estonia since 2014, and as a part of the Junior and Youth National teams since 2012. She brings a plethora of international playing experience to San José State - 2015 European Championships, 2015 Under-20 World Championships, 2014 Under-19 European Championships and the 2013 Under-18 European Championships.

Playing for the Kohila Volleyball Club, her team won the 2015 Baltic Women's Volleyball League. She recorded 11 points in the championship match and was named the Best Blocker of the League in 2014-15. Her team played in the 2015-16 CEV Women's Challenge Cup, also known as the European Challenge Cup volleyball club tournament.

Parts attends Aduentes Sports School in Tallinn, Estonia, and will be a business major at San José State.

"Laura fits right into the style of offense we began to run this spring with her fast, fluid arm and swift feet. Laura has played at the highest level of volleyball in the Baltic region and can make an immediate impact as an attacker in our middle-dominant Mountain West Conference. We believe her humble, yet competitive personality, will be a perfect match within our team culture," said Shepardson.
