Eileen Daley is returning to the San Jose State University Division of Intercollegiate Athletics on June 1 as the senior associate athletics director for academics and student services. Athletics Director Gene Bleymaier made the announcement.
A member of the campus community since 2005, Daley's first professional position with the Spartans was as the lead academic counselor for athletics. In 2007, she was promoted to an assistant athletics director position. Through 2011, Daley was a central figure in the department's major improvement in the NCAA's measurement of Academic Progress Rates (APR) scores.
In 2011, she accepted a university position as the associate director for undergraduate admissions and outreach.
The graduate of Sonoma State University majored in psychology. She went on to earn a master's degree in sport psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
Daley replaces Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics Liz Jarnigan who accepted a similar intercollegiate athletics position with the U.S. Air Force Academy after eight successful years with the Spartans in the areas of APR scores improvement, overall student-athlete academic success and department compliance with conference, NCAA and Title IX matters and issues. Jarnigan also served San Jose State University Athletics as the department's senior woman administrator.
