Complete 2016 All-Mountain West Teams

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -
San José State's Dillan Smith was named a Second Team All-Mountain West selection as an outfielder for the 2016 season. The conference office made the announcement Wednesday morning.

Smith, a senior from Canyon Lake, Calif., led the Spartans with a .370 average in conference play and added team highs of 34 hits, 20 runs scored and a .420 on-base percentage. The Palomar College transfer doubled five times, tripled once and drove in seven runs in addition to walking seven times and being hit by a pitch.

The award is the first of the Temescal Canyon High School (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) product's career and marks the third consecutive season San José State has had a All-MW Second Team performer. Kalei Contrades took home the honors in 2014 and Ozzy Braff did so last season.

Smith and the Spartans take on San Diego State in the play-in game of the Mountain West Championship this morning at Santa Ana Star Field in an 11:00 a.m. MT/10:00 a.m. PT first pitch.
