Boise, Idaho -- San José State softball put up 12 runs in the final three innings to defeat Boise State 14-4 on Sunday and complete a three-game sweep of the Broncos in Mountain West action.

In the team's three games in Boise, the Spartans offense rapped out 38 hits and scored 44 runs in 18 innings. They hit .437 (38-for-87) and had 20 extra-base hits, which includes 11 home runs.

The Spartans (25-24, 14-7 MW) got things going in the top of the first. Brittany Abacherli led off with a walk, stole second and came home on Alyssa Martinez's fifth homer of the season. It was 2-0 after half an inning.

In the bottom of the frame, Boise State (13-36, 5-16 MW) returned the favor. A one-out walk follow by a two-run bomb from Rebekah Cervantes tied the game 2-2. With a runner on second Emma Entzminger snagged a line drive at third, tossed to Taylor Purdy at second to double off the runner and end the inning.

The pitchers took over until the bottom of the fourth when Boise State's Morgan Lamb homered to give the Broncos a 3-2 lead.

The Spartans answered right back. Martinez (1-for-2, 3 R, 2 RBI, HR) walked and Jessica Madrid singled to lead off the fifth. Jessie Hufstetler (2-for-3, 3 R, RBI) then doubled in Martinez. Madison Aurin (2-for-3, R, 4 RBI) drove in the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly to right and two batters later Emma Entzminger knocked in the third with another sacrifice fly and its was 5-3 after four and a half.

After a fly out to open the Spartans' half of the sixth, Martinez walked and Madrid singled. Hufstetler was hit by a pitch, which loaded the bases. Aurin then hit a sac fly to left to extend the lead to 6-3. With two on, Taylor Purdy then hit her third homer of the series, a bases-clearing shot to dead center to push the lead to 9-3.

Boise got a run back in its half of the sixth on Cervantes' second homer of the game.

The Spartans made sure of the win in the seventh, scoring five runs on four hits. Casey Lester led off with a pinch-hit single and Abacherli walked. Martinez sac bunted them to second and third, which set the stage for Madrid (3-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, HR) who hammered a shot over the fence in right field for her second round tripper of the season. Hufstetler followed Madrid with a single and Madison Aurin deposited a 0-2 pitch to dead center field for the final two Spartans runs.
