Ray Guy Award Watch List

Augusta, Ga.----- San Jose State University's Michael Carrizosa, one of three finalists for the 2015 Ray Guy Award, is one of 28 punters named to the 2016 Ray Guy Award Watch List.

The Ray Guy Award is named after the Pro and College Football Hall of Fame punter who starred in the Bay Area for the Oakland Raiders.

In 2015, Carrizosa finished third nationally in individual punting, the highest placing ever for a Spartan punter, with a San Jose State single-season school record 47.5 yards per punt average. His punting resulted in the Spartans finishing second nationally among all Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools, best in school history, with a team single-season net punting average of 42.4 yards per punt.

Carrizosa, now a junior, was named first-team All-Mountain West and a second-team All-America by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

In his two seasons as San Jose State's punter, he has a 42.6-yard career average with 28 of his 91 punts landing inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

The Augusta Sports Council manages the Ray Guy Award program. Ten semifinalists will be named on November 11. Three finalists will be announced on November 22. This year's winner will be presented during ESPN's coverage of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 8 in Atlanta, Ga.
