San Jose State University and the University of South Florida (USF) reached an agreement to play a home-and-home non-conference football series in the 2017 and 2020 seasons.
San Jose State, a Mountain West member, will host South Florida, a member of the American Athletic Conference, on Friday, September 8, 2017.
The game with the Bulls in CEFCU Stadium -- home of the Spartans will be one of two non-conference home contests for San Jose State in 2017. Non-conference foe Cal Poly and Mountain West members Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State and Wyoming are the team's five other home opponents.
The Spartans are scheduled to play in Tampa on Saturday, September 12, 2020.
In 2015, USF had an 8-5 win-loss record and lost to Western Kentucky in the Miami Beach Bowl. San Jose State was 6-7 and won the inaugural AutoNation Cure Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
The teams will be meeting for the first time in football in 2017.
