San Jose, Calif.-With the start of the school year quickly approaching, the San José State Athletics Department recently added six new faces and promoted two others.
Two current Spartan employees were given promotions. Matt Miller was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Business, Facilities & Events. He has been a part of the Business Office since 2006 and was the Director of Business Operations and Home Football Events before his promotion.
Keith Marin, also in the Business Office, was promoted to Senior Business Office Specialist. He has been a member of the department since November 2013 and handles many of the day-to-day operations of the office including payments to vendors, deposits and travel claims.
Two new faces joined the Spartan Equipment staff. Brad Robbins is the new Football Equipment Coordinator. He came to San José State from the University of Nevada, where he was an intern in the equipment room, and previously spent five years as a student equipment manager for the Boise State football program. Robbins graduated from Boise State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications in 2015.
Terrance Stratton is the new Coordinator of Olympic Sports Equipment for SJSU. He spent the last two years as a graduate assistant in the equipment room at the University of Akron and assisted with football and baseball while being the liaison for track and field. Stratton graduated from Akron with a master of science degree in December of 2013 and from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sports management in May of 2011.
Caitlin Ciardella joined the Athletic Performance staff after interning last school year at the University of California. Ciardella graduated from the Unversity of Redlands with a Bachelor of Arts in communicative disorders in 2015. She was a four-year member of the women's basketball team and named a Redlands Senior Scholar-Athlete.
Cottrell Hill is no stranger to many in Spartan Athletics as he worked for the department on football gamedays as a student and now is one of two facilities coordinators. While he was a student, Hill also worked at The Event Center as an event operations lead and could be seen at many Spartan events. Hill graduated from San José State with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology in December 2015.
Matheo Hurtado is the new Academic Eligibility Coordinator. He comes to the Athletics Department from the Student Outreach and Recruitment Center on campus. Hurtado developed a recruitment strategy for his assigned high schools and advised future students on admissions requirements and procedures for them to be accepted at San José State. A true Spartan, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from San José State in 2014.
Parker Waller assumed the role of football video coordinator. He spent the past two years working in various capacities at the University of North Texas. Waller graduated from North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in radio/television/film in December of 2015.
