Men's Soccer Falls 3-0 Against Pac-12 Foe Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The San José State University men's soccer team lost 3-0 against Pac-12 opponent Oregon State on Friday night behind Timmy Mueller's hat trick. The Spartans dropped their record to 1-1-1 and the Beavers improved to 2-0-1.

Mueller, a junior All-Pac-12 first team performer, took eight shots compared to 10 for the entire Spartan team en route to his hat trick, scoring them all in the second half.

Oregon State was on the attack from the start, getting off a shot within the first minute of play. Within the first 12 minutes, the Beavers got off five shots and had four corner kicks.

Despite being outshot 9-2, including 3-0 shots on goal, the Spartans managed to keep it a 0-0 tie heading to the half.

The Beavers continued to pressure in the second half, once again opening with a shot within the first minute of play.

Oregon State finally broke through in the scoring column in the 53rd minute when Mueller, a six-foot-three, 196 pound forward, fought off multiple Spartan defenders to out muscle a goal for his first of three goals on the night.

Mueller added goals in the 62nd and 77th minute to finish with a hat trick.

The Spartans took eight shots in the second half including their only shot on goal in the 71st minute by freshman Suliman Khorami.

For the game, the Spartans were outshot 24-10 including 9-1 shots on goal. San José State could not register a corner kick compared to six for Oregon State.

Six Spartans took a shot attempt with Khorami, Rory Knibbs, Carlos Valdonios and Jeremy Romero each taking two shots. Romero took his in only 17 minutes of action. Alex Alcaraz and Jonathan Colunga had one shot each.

Goalkeeper Nedin Tucakovic had three saves in each half.
