San Jose, Calif.-- The San José State women's golf team continued their consistent play in the final round of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational on Tuesday. The Spartans shot a 293 in the final round and finished at 885, three shots behind champion Brigham Young at the Almaden Golf and Country Club in South San Jose.
My Leander shot a one-over 73 in the final round to finish in second place at two-under 214. She was two shots behind champion Kendra Dalton of BYU who was four-under 212. They were the only two players to finish the tournament under par. Leander started the day two-over for her first nine holes, making seven pars and two bogeys. She rebounded on the final nine holes with two birdies, a bogey and six pars.
Elizabeth Schultz finished tied for sixth at three-over 219, her first top-10 finish of the season. She was two-over par for her first nine holes of the final round before making two birdies and seven pars to finish the day at even-par 72.
Abegail Arevalo shot her best round of the tournament with a one-over 73 and finished tied for 15th at 225. She made 15 pars and a birdie in the final round. Alexandra Cooper tied for 20th at 227, while Franziska Friedrich tied for 29th at 232.
Playing as individuals, Arielle Caronna finished 57th at 245, and Fanny Johansson was 59th at 248.
The Spartans are off until October when the team plays at the Stanford Invitational, October 14-16.
