Walnut Creek, Calif.----- San Jose State lost a pair of matches to Air Force, 12-11 in sudden victory overtime, and #8-ranked UC Irvine, 12-7, on the second day of the Mountain Pacific Invitational men's water polo tournament.

The Spartans (2-7) led Air Force, 9-6, after Zachary Scudder's single match best third goal of the contest with 3:19 left in the third quarter. However, the Falcons battled back and send the match into overtime on Riley Thomas' third goal of the match. Air Force picked up the win when Jack Empey scored at 0:57 of the first sudden victory period.

In the nightcap, #8-ranked UC Irvine scored the first seven goals of the match before the Spartans got their offense going. San Jose State outscored the Anteaters, 6-5 in the second half, but could get no closer than five goals the rest of the way.

The Spartans conclude play in the tournament taking on Whittier College on September 25 in a 10:00 a.m. match at Northgate High School.
