The San José State University men's water polo team has a busy weekend ahead hosting four top-20 teams in six matches over three days starting with a Golden Coast Conference contest against #19-ranked UC Irvine, Friday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m.
The Spartans are playing all of their home matches this season at West Valley College's Aquatic Center.
San José State (4-11, 0-1 Golden Coast) has its first two-match winning streak of the season after defeating non-conference opponents Whittier, 10-7, and LaVerne, 13-7, on October 16. Ben Hauschild was the Spartans' top scorer with five goals in the two victories. Finn Pardon was next with four.
UC Irvine (8-8, 0-1 Golden Coast) won its most recent outing, 14-4 over Chapman.
The two teams are meeting for the second time this season. The Anteaters topped the Spartans, 12-7, in a non-conference match at the Mountain West Invitational in Walnut Creek, Calif., on September 24.
Following the UC Irvine match, San Jose State joins Santa Clara University as co-hosts of two-day The Rodeo tournament, October 22 and 23. There will be 12 matches at West Valley, seven on October 22 and five on October 23. San Jose State opens the action hosting unranked Navy (6-10) at 9:00 a.m. The Spartans also take on #14-George Washington at 1:00 p.m. and #10-Brown at 5:00 p.m.
The Spartans conclude their full weekend on October 23 hosting #18-St. Francis of Brooklyn at 9:20 a.m. and unranked Johns Hopkins at 2:40 p.m.
Air Force, #10-Bucknell, #9-UC Davis, #17-Cal Baptist, Fresno Pacific, #10-Harvard and Wagner also have matches scheduled at West Valley as part of The Rodeo tournament.
