Final Results

Las Vegas, Nev.--The San José State women's golf team finished the fall portion of the 2016-17 schedule by shooting the best two rounds so far as the team ended the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in seventh place at 11-under 565.

The Spartans shot a four-under 284 in the second and final round of the shortened tournament due to weather. The team made 13 birdies in the final round. SJSU shot a seven-under 281 in round one on Sunday.

Individually, My Leander finished tied for 10th at five-under 139, her third time in four tournaments this fall she finished in the top-10 and under par. She shot a three-under 69 on Tuesday with three birdies and 15 pars.

Franziska Friedrich recorded her second top-20 finish of the fall as she tied for 15th at four-under 140. She shot an even-par 72 with two birdies and 14 pars in the final round.

Elizabeth Schultz finished tied for 49th at even-par 144 after shooting a 73 in the final round. Abegail Arevalo shot her first under-par round of the season with a two-under 70 on Tuesday and finished tied for 59th at two-over 146. Alexandra Cooper finished tied for 89th at seven-over 151.

"Overall we had a nice tournament but the statistics tell the story," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "Our par-five scoring really hurt us here. We know what we have to work on the next few months to be better."

The Spartans are next play at the Peg Barnard Invitational, February 11 and 12, 2017, at the Stanford Golf Course.
