PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Cal State Fullerton's Alexis Valenzuela and Camille De Leon defeated San José State women's tennis duo Marie Klocker and Sybille Gauvain 8-4 in Tuesday's doubles action at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
"We didn't take advantage of the big points," said SJSU head coach Chad Skorupka. "I know Marie and Sybille can play much better and they will look to finish on a positive note in their consolation match."
Klocker and Gauvain, the #47-ranked doubles team in the country, will now compete in the consolation bracket. They take on Duke's Ellyse Hamlin and Meible Chi, who are ranked #36, at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 5.
Klocker also played in the qualifying singles backdraw bracket Tuesday and dropped a hard fought match to #125 Andrea LeBlanc of New Mexico 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3.
