Reno, Nev.- Thelma Grétarsdottir led the Spartans with six kills, and nine players recorded at least one kill as the San José State volleyball team fell at Nevada, 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-20) Thursday night in a Mountain West match at the Virginia Street Gym.

Letehavai Lousi and Summer Avery each recorded five kills, while Thaliana Grajeda and Breann Robinson had four kills. The Spartans hit just .056 for the match with 29 kills on 89 attempts and 24 hitting errors.

Others contributing included Luiza Andrade with 10 kills, Ciara Reistad with four digs and Jamie Hirai with three digs and a service aces.

Nevada outblocked San José State, 13-5, and outhit the Spartans, .329-.056, for the win. San José State opened the match by taking a 10-7 lead on back-to-back Lousi kills. Nevada then went on an 18-2 run to win the set 25-12. The Spartans hit -.111 during the set. The Spartans stayed close in the beginning of the second set but Nevada won the set 25-16.

The third set found San José State leading for much of the set. The Spartans led 16-14 on a Grajeda kill, but Nevada used a 7-0 run to lead 21-16. SJSU got within three at 23-20 on a Lousi kill before UNR won 25-20.

The Spartans travel to San Diego State this Saturday for a 1 p.m. match.
