Fresno, Calif.----- Cari Reiswig's second-place finish in the 1-meter dive was one six top-five San Jose State University finishes on the final day of the two-day Chick-fil-A Invitational women's swimming and diving meet.
The four-time All-Mountain West honoree had a score of 273.50 for her six dives to finish behind Nevada's Zoe Li, who had a 281.70 total. Reiswig was sixth on the 3-meter board a day earlier.
San Jose State added three fourth and two fifth-place finishes on the final day of the season-opening meet to finish in fifth place in the team standings.
The Spartans' 400 medley relay team of Colleen Humel, Taylor Solorio, Brenna Bushey and Taylor Lehr and the 400 free relay quartet of Humel, Antoinette Loya, Gabby Heng and Lehr each finished fourth. Sophomore Marley Maluafiti was San Jose State's top individual finisher on the day with her fourth place finish in the 200 fly at 2:06.28.
"This morning, we rebounded very strongly and had a number of tremendous performances," said San Jose State women's swimming and diving head coach Sage Hopkins.
Humel and Lehr had a busy and successful day for San Jose State adding an individual fifth place finish to their fourth-place relay contributions. Humel swam the 200 back in 2:04.07 and Lehr posted a time of 52.69 in the 100 free.
As a team, San Jose State finished with 416 points. Boise State was first with 936 followed by San Diego State at 780.5, Nevada with 580 and host Fresno State at 482.5.
The Spartans will be back in action, Friday and Saturday, October 21 and 22 at the UOP Invitational in Stockton, Calif.
