Sacramento, Calif. --- The San José State women's cross country team finished in 19th place out of the NCAA Division I West Region's top-35 teams Friday morning in Sacramento."Everyone on the team ran a good race," said Spartans' head coach Brad Wick. "When you look at the improvement of the runners that competed here a year ago, we really have something to be proud of."Jennifer Sandoval was SJSU's top-finisher in 55th place with a time of 20:47.9. Jeanette Zambrano, who finished last year's regional in 120th place, crossed the finish line Saturday in 21:16.5, good for 76th place. Karina Nunes also saw a great improvement with a 112th place finish (21:47.8) after she was 180th last season."Everyone who ran gave it their all," Wick said. We finished pretty close to the top half, and that's close to where we want to be. But looking at the improvement for our athletes shows the direction that the team is headed."Stanford won the meet with 71 points, followed by Washington with 88 points and San Francisco with 101 points. Washington's Amy-Eloise Neale snapped the tape at the finish line with a time of 19:27.8.TOP-5 TEAMS
