VOLLEYBALL TO PLAY FINAL ROAD MATCH OF 2016: The San José State volleyball team plays just one match this week as the team travels to Utah State for the final road Mountain West match of the season. This is also the final road trip for the Spartans for 2016. Utah State is currently seventh in the MW standings, two matches better than the eighth-place Spartans. San Jose State is 12-16 overall and 5-1 1 in the MW. The Spartans split matches last week, winning at Air Force, 3-2, on the 10th, but falling 3-0 at Boise State on the 12th.

The team is seventh in the conference standings, two games in front of the Spartans. Lauren Anderson leads the team with 333 kills, 3.43 ps, while Kaylie Kamalu-Smith is second with 325 kills, 3.49 ps.

HEAD COACH Jolene Shepardson: San José State head coach Jolene Shepardson is in her third season at the helm of the program. She has a 29-59 record in three seasons at SJSU, and a 72-106 coaching record in six seasons.
FINAL POINT AT AIR FORCE VERY UNIQUE: Up 14-13 at Air Force on November 10, match point for San José State came from a unique play. With the Falcons serving, Luiza Andrade received the serve, but the pass went back over the net and fell between three Air Force players for the San José State victory. Andrade has only seven kills in her two seasons as a Spartan.
GAMA JOINS ELITE SPARTAN BLOCKING COMPANY: With 121 block assists on the season, Nandyala Gama moved up to third place on the San José State single season block assists list. Gama is the first player to enter the top-10 in block assists since the 2002 season when Stephanie Pasccuci and Liz Hudson each entered the list. The school record is 134, set by Hudson during the 2001 season.
Gama also entered the single-season San José State total blocks list. She begins the week with 130 blocks, tying Spartan career blocking leader Joslynn Gallop for ninth place. Gama needs just three blocks to move into eighth, four for seventh place and seven blocks for sixth place. Kim Hicks set the school record with 151 blocks in 1988.
