SAN JOSE, Calif. - On the heels of a 15-7 defeat to #9-Pepperdine, San José State men's water polo looks to rebound against three of the nation's top teams.
"We are really excited about this weekend," said SJSU head coach Bruce Watson. "To be the best, you need to play the best."
The Spartans (7-15, 0-3) will head down to southern California to take on three top ten teams this weekend starting with Golden Coast Conference foe #7-Long Beach State on Friday, November 4. SJSU will have a quick turnaround as they take on undefeated #1-UCLA on Saturday and #2-USC on Sunday.
"Playing the number one and two ranked teams, as well as a conference rival ranked in the top ten, will be a tremendous challenge and experience for our young team," said Watson.
With a matchup with #4-Pacific looming on November 11, the Spartans are in the middle of a five game run in which they play five of the top ten teams in the nation.
In San José State's last time in the pool, October 28 vs. #9-Pepperdine, the Spartans let an opponent score over ten goals for the first time in eight matches. Freshman Ben Hauschild, who has 45 steals, third most in the nation, and freshman goalie TJ Palmer, 111 saves, look to get the Spartan defense back on track this weekend.
