San Jose State To Begin National Search For New Head Football Coach

Nov. 27, 2016

San Jose, Calif.----- San Jose State University will conduct a national search for a new head football coach according to an announcement made by Athletics Director Gene Bleymaier.

The next coach will replace Ron Caragher who completed four seasons (2013-2016) with the Spartans. San Jose State had an overall record of 19-30, 14-18 in Mountain West games, and won the 2015 AutoNation Cure Bowl with Caragher as head coach.

The Spartans finished this season with a 4-8 overall record and tied for third-place in the conference's West Division with a 3-5 mark.

Caragher has an overall head coaching record of 63-52 in 10 seasons. He was the University of San Diego football head coach from 2007 through 2012 before accepting the San Jose State job.

"I want to thank Coach Caragher for his hard work and commitment to San Jose State football these past four years," Bleymaier said. "A search for a new head coach will begin immediately."
