Honors continue rolling in the week of October 31 for San Jose State University football wide receiver Tim Crawley.
For the second year in a row, the Spartan 2016 co-captain and team's leading pass receiver is an Academic All-District VIII selection by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Crawley now is eligible for Academic All-America honors at the end of the regular season.
To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30, play in at least 50 percent of the team's contests and be enrolled at the nominating institution for at least one year.
Crawley graduated from San Jose State in May 2016 with magna cum laude honors as a business management information systems major.
Heading into the November 4 game at Boise State, Crawley leads the team with 34 pass receptions for 389 yards and two touchdowns. He shares the team lead with four total touchdowns after rushing for a 12-yard score in the October 29 30-24 victory over UNLV.
Crawley is one of 16 NCAA Division I players eligible for either first, second or third team Academic All-America honors at the wide receiver position. Each team will include two wide receivers.
The Academic All-America program now is in its 64th year honoring outstanding student-athletes that excel equally well in their academic pursuits.
Earlier this week, Crawley was named a National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete award winner and a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy awarded to the "...nation's best student-athlete."
