Women's Tennis Picks Up A Pair of Wins At Bronco Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - San José State women's tennis grabbed two wins in singles action today, Saturday, November 5, at the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, Calif.


A day after only winning one match out of five, the Spartans rebounded courtesy of freshman Tamara Culibrk, a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 winner over Nevada's Sheila Morales, and sophomore Miyo Kobayashi, who defeated Nevada's Blaga Delic in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Senior Gaelle Rey lost to Adriana Gergelyova of Nevada, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.


"It was a big win for Tamara today," said SJSU head coach Chad Skorupka. "She went the distance again with a three set match and was able to close it out."


In the Spartans' only doubles match, Culibrk and Rey fell to Daniella Silva and Madison Clarke of Santa Clara, 8-6.


San José State returns to the court tomorrow for the last day of the Bronco Invitational. The Spartans will take on players from Santa Clara in singles and Saint Mary's in doubles. Singles play for the Spartans begins at 1 p.m. Doubles gets underway at 12:00 p.m.
