After advancing from Stage II qualifying, former San José State University women's golfers Regan De Guzman and Megan Osland are currently in the middle of Stage III at the LPGA and Symetra Tour Qualifying School in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Playing the Jones and Hills Courses at the LPGA International, De Guzman is currently tied for sixth at five-under 139 through two rounds. Osland is tied for 80th at three-over 147.
De Guzman started the final stage by shooting a one-under 71 on the Hills Course on Wednesday, followed by a four-under 68 on the Jones Course on Thursday. Over her first two rounds, she has made eight birdies and an eagle (#18 on Jones Course).
Osland started the week by shooting a three-over 75 on the Jones Course, but rebounded on Thursday with an even-par 72 on the Hills Course. She has made five birdies during the two rounds.
Both ladies began qualifying in late August with Stage I in Rancho Mirage, Calif. They advanced out of Stage II in October in Venice, Fla. A total of 36 players made it through to Final Stage from Stage I.
The final stage of qualifying runs from November 30 to December 4. The 156 players are competing for 20 full LPGA Tour cards and 25 partial cards. There will be a cut after the fourth round to the top-70 players with ties. The final round will be played on the Hills course.
