Colorado Springs, Colo.----- Record-setting Cari Reiswig of San Jose State University was named the Mountain West Women's Diver of the Week.
The junior from Galt, Calif., broke her own school record in the 1-meter diving event at the team's double dual meet against UC Santa Cruz and Cal Lutheran on December 3 with her 309.80 winning total. She shattered her previous best mark and school record of 301.75 set in 2015.
In just her second meet of the season, Reiswig also qualified for the 2017 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in March with her school record and event-winning point total.
"We're thrilled with Cari receiving Mountain West Diver of the Week honors. It's well-deserved. She's done a great job for us in the pool and the classroom," said San Jose State women's swimming and diving head coach Sage Hopkins. "We're very happy where she is with her season given the limited amount of practice she's had."
The Mountain West Diver of the Week award is her third in her two-plus seasons at San Jose State.
The Spartans are next in action, Wednesday, December 21, in a 12:00 p.m. (PT) dual meet against the University of California.
