Smith Matches Career Scoring High In 90-85 Win Over Stanislaus State

San Jose, Calif.----- Forward Jasmine Smith tied a career scoring high with 25 points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds leading San Jose State to a 90-85 win over Cal State Stanislaus in a non-conference women's basketball game.

Smith was 11-of-15 from the field and scored 16 of her points in the second half as the Spartans (3-9) ended a six-game losing streak. Starting guards Dezz Ramos with 20 and MyMy Ladd with a season-high 15 and reserve Rachol West with 11 also scored in double figures for San Jose State.

Reana Hardin led Stanislaus State (5-7) in scoring with a career-high 31 points. Cassidy Sanders-Curry added a season-high 15 and game-high 11 rebounds and Riley Holladay scored 10 for the Warriors.

San Jose State took the lead for good, 34-32 with 5:21 remaining in the second quarter on a Smith basket. The Spartans closed out the half with an 18-5 rally for a 50-37 halftime lead. San Jose State's first half scoring total was a season best.

Cal State Stanislaus trailed by as many as 15 points, 57-42, early in the third quarter. The Warriors got as close as 88-85 with 14.2 seconds remaining after a Sanders-Curry basket, but two free throws by Ramos for her fifth game of 20 or more points this season clinched the win for San Jose State.

The Spartans return to action Thursday, December 29 in their Mountain West opener against Nevada in a 7:00 p.m. game.
