Busy Four Days For San Jose State Women's Swimming & Diving

Dec. 28, 2016

The San Jose State University women's swimming and diving team returns to dual meet action taking on nine opponents in four days in two cities starting with a December 31 meet at CSU Bakersfield starting at 11:00 a.m.

The Spartans (2-1) last swam against #2-ranked California in a dual meet losing to the powerful Golden Bears, 178-113, on December 21. Backstroke specialist Colleen Humel and diver Cari Reiswig were individual winners at Cal. Humel won the 100 back and Reiswig swept the 1 and 3-meter dives. Humel already has NCAA "B" qualifying marks in the 100 and 200 back. Reiswig is qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in the 1 and 3-meter dives.

Brenna Bushey is a second Spartan this season with a NCAA "B" qualifying mark in the 100 fly.

"We're at the last portion of our (dual meet) season. We're looking at getting back in a groove after being home for a week or so, sharpening some things and getting some race tactics buttoned down as we head into the conference championships," said San Jose State head coach Sage Hopkins.

Following the CSU Bakersfield meet, the Spartans head to UC San Diego for dual meet competition on January 2 and 3. San Jose State faces Mountain West opponents Air Force, Boise State and San Diego State and non-conference opponents Incarnate Word and UC San Diego on January 2 in a 2:00 p.m. meet.

Rice, San Diego State and UC San Diego are the opposition on January 3 starting at noon.
