Daytona Beach, Fla.- Former San José State women's golfer Regan De Guzman earned her full LPGA Tour status this past Sunday after playing five rounds at Stage III Qualifying last week.
De Guzman finished tied for 14th with a five-under 355 for the five rounds she played on the Hill and Jones Courses at the LPGA International. For the tournament, she shot 71-68-70-74-72-355. The top-20 finishers earn full LPGA status for the 2017 season. De Guzman made 16 birdies, one eagle and 62 pars during her five rounds and was also the top-finishing amateur for the week, turning professional after qualifying.
De Guzman finished her collegiate season in May 2016 and graduated from San José State the same month with a degree in communication studies. From Quezon City, Philippines, she played 113 rounds during her Spartan career and had a 73.84 stroke average. De Guzman was a four-time all-conference honoree and the 2012-13 Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year.
Spartan alum Megan Osland also made it to Stage III Qualifying. Although she did not make the final cut of 70 players, she shot 75-72-75-72-294 for the week.
