Hayward, Calif.-----San Jose State University placed first in nine of 14 events and defeated Cal State East Bay, 144-116, in a non-conference women's swimming dual meet.
Allyson Fellows, Colleen Humel and Taylor Solorio each had two first-place finishes for the Spartans (4-1). Humel was first in the 100 back with a time of 57.05 and in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.94. Solorio won the 50 free with a time of 24.55 and the 100 free with a time of 53.16. Fellows was first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:34.45 and the 500 free with a time of 5:14.02.
Coach Sage Hopkins said, "Overall I'm very happy with the performances today and I think that all around it was a solid team performance."
Jenner Johnson finished first with a time of 1:05.85 in the 100 breast. She was also a part of the 400 medley relay team with Humel, Violani Auva'a and Solorio that finished first with a time of 3:51.68. Teammate Brenna Bushey had a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.82.
"At this time in the season, with things winding down, we are really looking to improve with each meet and I think we did that today. We want to keep getting better and better and we are looking to close strong and have a tremendous performance at the (conference) championships."
