San Jose, Calif. â€" In the first of a pair of road games this week, the San José State women's basketball team travels to Laramie, Wyo., to face the Wyoming Cowgirls who have yet to lose in Mountain West Conference play this season.

SMITH SELECTED MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jasmine Smith (Sr., F, Burbank, Calif.) recorded back-to-back double doubles in the team's two wins last week and was named the Mountain West Player of the Week on Monday morning.
Smith averaged 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in the team's 81-80 overtime win over San Diego State last Wednesday and its 86-74 victory over Air Force on Saturday. In two games she shot 68.0 percent (17-of-25).
Against SDSU, Smith shot 63.6 percent (7-of-11) scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds with one blocked shot and one steal. Then against the Falcons, she posted her second double double of the week with 23 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the field. She also had four steals in that game.
Smith has recorded a double double in each of the team's five conference games and is the only player in the Mountain West to record a double double in every league game this year. Her current double double streak is at six games and overall she has seven double doubles this year.
DEZZ COULD GET TO 1,000 POINTS IN RECORD TIME
SeniorDezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah) was the second-leading scorer in the Mountain West last season averaging 18.1 points per game and this season has up that to 22.8 through the first 17 games. She has scored 906 points in 46 games as a Spartans and is on pace to become just the second SJSU women's basketball player to score 1,000 points in her first two seasons. If she stays at her current scoring pace, she will reach 1,000 points in five more games, an overall total of 51 games. She would join SJSU Hall of Famer Lora Alexander as the only Spartan to accomplish the feat. Alexander scored 1,019 points in 56 games.
CRAIGHEAD FOUR WINS FROM 100th OF HER CAREER
With four more victories, head coach Jamie Craighead will reach the 100-win career plateau. It will be her 49th win at SJSU tying her with Karen Smith (1993-99) for third place on the program all-time wins list. The late Janice Richard (1999-2006) ranks second with 93 wins and Sharon Chatman (1977-86), with 143 victories, is the all-time leader in victories and is the only coach in SJSU women's basketball with a winning record (143-121/.542).

Dezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah) is showing everyone just how dominant a player can be from the point guard position. Entering the game at Wyoming she is #1 in scoring (30.2/g) and 3-pt FG (3.4/g), #3 in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0:1), #4 in assists (5.6/g) and FT% (.889), #8 in steals (1.8/g).

RAMOS AMONG THE SCORING ELITE
With her 31-point effort in the Spartans 86-74 victory over Air Force (1/14), her sixth of the season and seventh of her Spartans career, Dezz Ramos (Sr., PG, West Valley, Utah) ranks second on the MW list of single-season 30+ point games. Through five MW games her 30.2 ppg is more than 11 points higher than Wyoming's Liv Roberts' 19.0 ppg, who is in second place. Nationally, Ramos ranks ninth in total points (380) and points per game (22.4)
TURNEY TIME
Taylor Turney(Fr., PG, Henderson, Nev.) has seen increased floor time in the Spartans five conference games and it's paying dividends. Her minutes have increased from 8.8-to-13.6 per game. Her scoring average is up to 6.0 point per game, from 2.9 in the team's first 12 contests and she has dished out 15 assists in Mountain West play (3.0/g) compared to 1.0/g in the non-conference portions of the schedule. Against Fresno State she set a personal-best with seven assists and equaled her best offensive performance with nine points.
