Final Stats

Laramie, Wyo. - On Wednesday night Dezz Ramos scored 29 points and moved inexorably closer to 1,000 points in her Spartans' career, but the San Jose State women's basketball team could not stop the Wyoming Cowgirls interior game and lost 89-60 in the Arena-Auditorium.

Ramos, who leads the Mountain West in scoring and was the ninth leading scorer in the nation coming into the game, shot 42 percent from the floor (10-of-24) including going 6-of-9 from three-point range (66.7 percent). She has scored a total of 935 points in 47 games in a Spartan's uniform and will head into the team's next game 65 from 1,000 points as a Spartan.

While Ramos was right at her scoring average in the team's five previous Mountain West contests (30.2 points per game), the rest of the team was just 12-of-42 overall (29 percent) and 2-of-15 from long range (13 percent).

Wyoming (14-3, 6-0 MW) scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed in the contest. They had four players in double figures led by Liv Roberts who scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. The Cowgirls led by seven after 10 minutes and took a 13-point advantage into the half, 49-36. At the end of three periods Wyoming was up by 23 before closing out the game with an 89-60 victory.

San Jose State (6-12, 3-3 MW) was outscored 48-to-22 in the paint and saw the Cowgirls who shoot 56 percent through three quarters and 47 percent for the game.

San Jose State returns to action on Saturday with an afternoon game at Boise State. The Spartans and Broncos tip off at 2:00 p.m.
