Jan. 19, 2017

With two weekends remaining in the dual meet season, the San Jose State University women's swimming and diving team travels to conference foe University of Nevada, for a Saturday, January 21 competition at the Lombardi Pool. The first event begins at 11:00 a.m.

The meet will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network.

The Spartans (4-1) are coming off a 144-116 dual meet win over Cal State-East Bay on January 13. San Jose State heads into the Nevada dual meet ranked 41st in CollegeSwimming.com's mid-major rankings.

Nevada (4-0) is 21st in the same poll and has wins in its last 14 dual meets.

San Jose State women's swimming and diving coach Sage Hopkins said, "Our primary goal is to compete to the best of our abilities and to continue refining the tiny details as we approach the conference championships."

"We are excited to compete against the reigning Mountain West champion. Nevada is a very strong program, with many top swimmers and last year's NCAA Diver of the Year (Sharae Zheng). This is a tremendous opportunity for us to compete with the best."

Zheng won the NCAA championship in the 1-and 3-meter events last year and is ranked #1 in the Mountain West in both events. She is expected to face off against San Jose State school record holder Cari Reiswig in one of the meet's featured events. Among conference divers, Reiswig is ranked fifth in the 1-meter and fourth in the 3-meter.
