Las Vegas, Nev. - The San Jose State women's basketball team used an 11-3 run early in the fourth quarter to open a 10-point lead and cruised to a 76-65 victory at UNLV on Saturday afternoon. The run was keyed by three-pointers from Rachol West, Paris Baird and Myzhanique Ladd and at one point, the team scored eight points in just 20 seconds.
Dezz Ramos finished with a game-high 28 points and is 11 away from becoming the fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 points for her career. Joining Ramos in double figures were Baird, 13 points and seven rebounds, and Ladd, 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.
The Spartans (7-14, 4-5 MW) outshot UNLV (14-7, 5-4 MW) 42-to-33 percent from the field and snapped a three game slide heading into its second conference bye next Wednesday. The team returns to action on Saturday, February 4 in The Event Center against the New Mexico Lobos. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
