Complete Meet Results - Day #3
College Station, Texas----- Brenna Bushey and Colleen Humel posted the best San Jose State University individual finishes in a swimming event and seniors Allyson Fellows and Jenner Johnson made their mark on the school's all-time women's swimming and diving list on the third day of the Mountain West Conference Championships Meet.
Bushey was sixth in the 100 fly at 54.63. Humel matched her teammate with a sixth in the 100 back at 54.34.
Fellows posted the #7 mark at San Jose State in the 400 individual medley with her 21st-place time of 4:27.86. She entered the Mountain West Championships with a season best 4:30.01.
"Allyson Fellows' 400 IM and the performances by Taylor Solorio, Jenner Johnson, Brenna Bushey and Colleen Humel (led the way)," said San Jose State women's swimming and diving head coach Sage Hopkins.
Johnson gave the Spartans some key points in the team scoring with her 12th place finish in the 100 breast. Her 1:03.28 time was a career best and the #4 mark on the San Jose State career list.
The 100 breast was one of the best-scoring events for the Spartans on the third day of the four-day championships. Solorio led the way with a ninth-place finish in 1:02.43, her lifetime best.
Overall, the Spartans had 15 career best swims during Friday's six events. Gillian Logan joined Fellows with a lifetime best in the 400 IM.
Gabby Heng, Kate Hanf, Kendal Guy and Katie McIntee had career bests in the 200 free. Erin Wayman did the same in the 100 back.
Kimberlee Giggey, Victoria Fountain, Jacqueline Nisson and Antoinette Loya all had career best times in the 100 fly.
San Jose State got its strong night going with another Spartan top-10 mark in a relay. Humel, Johnson, Bushey and Gabby Heng swam a seventh-place time of 3:41.91 in the 400 medley relay - #4 on the San Jose State best marks list.
In the team standings, the Spartans had their best scoring day of the first three and with 152.5 points remain in seventh place at 362.5. Boise State leads the Championships with 972 and San Diego State follows in second with 769.
"It's about where we had anticipated. We were hoping to be a little bit higher point-wise today but in the same placing," said the Spartans' head coach whose team has made 10 dents into the school's career top-10 list the last three days.
"We have a number of very strong events tomorrow and we are looking forward to getting in and holding our place."
The Mountain West Championships conclude Saturday, February 18. Preliminary heats begin at 11:00 a.m. (CT)/9:00 a.m. (PT) and finals will start at 6:30 p.m. (CT)/4:30 p.m. (PT). Live coverage is available on the Mountain West Network.
