Player of the Week Announcement

San Jose, Calif. - Averaging 30.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in two San José State victories last week, senior Dezz Ramos is the Mountain West Player of the Week for the third time this season. The announcement was made at the Mountain West Conference office in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Monday morning.

"Dezz really stepped up for us, especially in crunch time," Head Coach Jamie Craighead said. "With Jasmine out, she did a great job leading our team to two critical wins."

In victories over Fresno State and Air Force, the West Valley, Utah native, hit 20-of-46 shots from the floor (43.5 percent) including going 9-of-18 from three-point range and sank 12-of 15 shots from the free throw line.

Against Fresno State last Wednesday, a 77-68 overtime win, Ramos shined in the fourth quarter and overtime. She scored 20 of her team-high 27 points in the final 15 minutes of play, shooting 5-of-9 from the field (55.6 percent) and knocking down 9-of-12 from the line.

In overtime, she scored nine of the team's 17 points, including nine of the last 11, and was 7-of-10 from the free throw line in the last 2 minutes to secure the victory. The Spartans trailed by 16 points in the third, before coming back for the nine-point win. It is the largest deficit the team has overcome this year in a winning effort.

In an 83-67 victory at Air Force on Saturday afternoon, Ramos shot 12-of-16 (46.1 percent) and totaled 17 of her game-high 34 points in the fourth quarter. In the final period she was 5-of-7 from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point range and hit all three of her free throw attempts.

With SJSU up 65-61 with 5:33 to play, she completed a three-point play and then drained back-to-back threes, in 1:20 of action, to push the team's lead to 11. Still up by 11 with 1:42 to go, Ramos drained another three and sank two FTs to secure the 16-point win.

The win at Air Force was the team's third straight road win and the 100th of Head Coach Jamie Craighead's career.
