Final Stats - Sacramento State
Folsom, Calif.-- The San José State Beach Volleyball team split a pair of duals Saturday, defeating Boise State, 3-2, but falling to host Sacramento State, 3-2, at the Livermore Community Park in Folsom, Calif.
Summer Avery and Kaitlynn Zdroik were the only Spartan pair to go 2-0 on the day, winning in straight sets in both matches. Three other pairs went 1-1 on the day.
Against Boise State, Allison Meehan and Lyndi Scholl won in three sets, including 15-13 in the third set. Jamie Hirai and Giulia Gávio and Zdroik and Avery each won their matches in straight sets. Pairs Julie Sam and Nandyala Gama and Luiza Andrade and Julia Golbeck lost 0-2. In exhibition, Breann Robinson and Thaliana Grajeda won in three sets including 20-18 in the third set.
Golbeck-Andrade and Avery-Zdroik were the winning Spartan pairs against the Hornets, each winning 2-0. Meehan-Scholl and Sam-Gama fell in straight sets, while Gávio-Hirai fell in three sets, 22-20, 18-21, 15-13.
The Spartans host the Monterey Invitational next Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18 in Monterey, Calif. Teams participating include San Francisco, UCLA, Portland, Grand Canyon, Saint Mary's, and the Spartans.
