Kevin Velo Tied for 12th at Bandon Dunes Championship

Bandon, Ore.--- The San José State University men's golf team is in 13th place after round one of the Bandon Dunes Championship with a score of five-over par 293 on the Old MacDonald Golf Course.

Leading the Spartans is sophomore Kevin Velo who is tied for 12th place at two-under par 70. He is the only Spartan to shoot under par in the first round of the tournament.

Tied at 37th is Matthew Murray who is one-over par after the first round shooting a 73 on the day.

Tied at 55th is Scott Munger and Henrik Sohlberg who both shot three-over par 75. Munger had a team high five birdies, but 8 bogeys in round one.

William Barnett is tied in 81st place after shooting six-over par 78.

Leading the tournament is Oregon which has a team score of 13-under par 275. Second place, Colorado and Texas Tech, are eight strokes behind.

On top of the players' leaderboard is Hannes Ronneblad, from Texas Tech, who shot seven under par 65.
