San José, Calif.--For just the second time in school history, the San José State women's gymnastics team claimed the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Gymnastics Team Championship!

The Spartans won the team title with a school-record tying 195.925 Saturday evening at The Event Center. The team tied the record set by the 2004 team, which coincidentally was set when the Spartans won the 2004 MPSF Championship.

Headed into the final rotation the top-three teams were separated by just .100 of a point. UC Davis led 194.825, followed by Sacramento State at 146.800 and San José State at 146.725. The Hornets finished first with a 48.375 on vault, followed by the Spartans with the third-highest (tied) bars score in school history at 49.200 and UC Davis on floor with a 48.900.
