Fairfax, Calif.--San José State women's golfer My Leander continued shooting under-par rounds on Monday as she shot a one-under 71 in the first two rounds of the Meadow Club Intercollegiate played at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.

Leander, the highest-ranked player in the tournament, is in second place at two-under 142. She has now recorded five consecutive under-par rounds dating back to last week's tournament.

During her two rounds, she made six birdies and an eagle to go with 23 pars. Her eagle came in the second round on the par-five, 482-yard #15- a nine-iron from 105 yards and got some back spin to drop the ball in the hole.

Abegail Arevalo is the only other Spartan in the top-20 as she is tied for 16th at four-over 148. She started the day with her fourth par round of the season (72) and shot a 76 in the second round. Arevalo made three birdies in the first round but just one in round two. She made 25 pars in the two rounds.

Alexandra Cooper started the day with a 73 in the first round, making three birdies and 11 pars. However, in the second round, she did not make a birdie and had six bogeys and a double bogey in shooting an 80. She is tied for 42nd at nine-over 153.

Franziska Friedrich is tied for 53rd at 156 after shooting 77-79, while Elizabeth Schultz is 59th at 157 as she shot 77-80.

Playing as individuals, Arielle Caronna is 71st at 164 (82-82), while Fanny Johansson is 75th at 174 (89-85).

The Spartans ended the first round in a tie for first place with San Diego State at 293. The second round found the team making one eagle, six birdies and 29 bogeys or worse as the team fell to seventh place after shooting at 307 in round two. The team is seventh at 600, +24, and 10 shots behind third-place Illinois. The Aztecs continue to lead the tournament at 582, followed by BYU at 583.

"We had a nice first round but a rough second round," said San José State head coach John Dormann. "We missed way too many short putts today. My was great again, and Abby continues to develop into the player we knew she can be. We need better consistency from the rest of our lineup."

Final round action begins Tuesday with a shot gun start at 8:15 a.m. The Spartans will start the day on holes 11-15 with UC Davis and Coastal Carolina.
